Only Child 04:26
"bring out your dead" bring out your loved you lost "your sons and daughters are gone miasma filled these homes now we must let them rest" bring them out and place them in the pile for our dear shepherd leads them to their grave "there's no hole that's fit for my sweet child to lay I'd sooner end myself than let them fester in the mass of dead in this foul heap of corpses" the wind grows stale your face turns pale you watch the sunrise the light of dawn falling from the sky at lagging speeds then it hits their face your only child no breath in their lungs no pulse from their blood it was only days ago when you held their hand the light of life it burned so bright in them now you feel the pain your only child no breath in their lungs no pulse from their blood
2.
open up your eyes receive the messenger "there's no saving him he's too far gone" damn that fool they call a doctor he's nothing more than the devil's wicked courier "I can't help you I can only love you until the day you leave me" no sleep just the sound of him suffering "my love what can I do?" "please kill me breathing is a burden" now the guilt is heavy and your head is hurting "I can't help you I can only love you until the day you leave me" he hands you his knife "please plunge it deep end my suffering" your selfishness overcomes you you just can't bear to let him go "I can't help you I can only love you until the day you leave me" "please, you must let me go! the pain, it fills me it's overwhelming"

The Rising 03:40
the breath of life escapes my lungs so I've not much time soon, I leave this life the rising occurred only just days ago now my body aches while this condition is slowly ripping through all of me the scent of death is what surrounds me filling every breath filling every breath the reaper waits for my perdition tracing every step tracing every step the air is freezing only when I take it in the lesions on my skin are not a match for the legions of the dead I'm meant to join
5.
"Dad's not breathing" "Mum's skin is ghostly pale" breathe in this putrid air the fires burn for days and nights the contagion rages on it's spreading by thousands more and it's coming to reunite us with the love we lost just two kids all alone dear sister, I'll take care of you lay by the docks at night no home left, we're just waiting for our ferryman to reunite us with the love we lost "dear God hear me this is no place two kids should be dear God hear me how have we wronged you?" sleep in the filth, rest well the birds descend now with his will I wake to hear your cries sweet Grim's mark, for only you he's coming to take away my only love I've left "dear God hear me this is no place two kids should be dear God hear me how have we wronged you? you took my family all with your plague we were no sinners we praised your name" and night now falls as does my chest "I'll meet you soon" expel my last breath

about

This album is themed around the several outbreaks of the "Black Death" in past centuries. Focused more on how individuals might have felt when faced with the adversity of the times. Loss of loved ones was unshakably common though each life meant a great deal to someone. One of the last widespread outbreaks of the epidemic killed approximately 100,000 people in one year. Mothers, fathers, brothers, sisters, husbands, wives, children, grandchildren. All fall into the statistical numbers we recount as history but each single life meant something. This reflects on the individual within the integers.
